Band Bios
Randy Mundy: guitar, drums, keyboards and lead vocals
Randy is the principle songwriter and lead vocalist for the band. He has worked as a singer/songwriter for over 43 years, worked as a recording artist, played in numerous bands and performed on stage and screen (both big and little) during his career.
Steve Coltrin: Keyboards
Steve studied piano throughout his youth and has been an accompanist and keyboardist in instrumental groups for over 40 years. In his life time he estimates that he has written and arranged some 200 compositions.
Jim Brearton: Trumpet
Before joining the Mundy Mourning Blues Band, Jim Brearton spent many years performing. Jim was the student director of bands at Dixie College, studied trumpet with Newell Dayley and played trumpet in the BYU Jazz Ensemble, toured Europe in 1970 with the BYU Folk Dancers’ Band, He also played principal trumpet for the Murray Symphony and Salt Lake Opera Theatre, He is also currently playing with Wasatch Winds and Dan Newell Band along with The Mundy Mourning Blues Band.
Dave Wayt: Bass and vocals
Dave and Randy have been in several groups together over the years—Messenger, Natchez Trace and Mundy Mundy & Wayt, as well as numerous musical groups before and in between. He has also appeared many times on the theatrical stage in a number of Utah Valley productions.
Bob Bailey: Keyboards
Bob started playing the piano at the age of three and became a huge talent, working at all of the major film and recording studios in Hollywood. He worked with many an iconic star, including Dean Martin on his NBC television program.
Bob Bonham: Guitars
Bob Bonham started playing guitar at age 9 and started his own Surf band right after the 6th grade. After that, he went on to play in rock and blues bands performing along side of music greats such as Shuggie Otis, Ballin’ Jack, Ambrosia and others. Bob has had opportunities to do studio work at the United Artist studio in Hollywood and smaller studios in the California and Utah areas. His influences are Eric Clapton, Clarence White, Steve Howe of Yes, The Beatles, Chet Atkins, and B.B. King. He loves Blues, Rock, Jazz, Country, and Bluegrass (he also plays 5 string banjo). Bob is actively recording and performing in several bands here in Utah and occasionally in California in a wide variety of venues.
Glen Meigs: Drums and Percussion
A multi talented performer, Glen has played drums and percussion in many musical groups over the years and has directed and performed in numerous stage productions in the Utah Valley area.
Eric Manning: Bass and Saxophones
As a versatile musician, Eric has supported many musical groups and musical stage productions with both his plating and arrangement talents.
Berin Stephens: Saxophones
Berin Stephens was born in Alaska and grew up in the community of Chugiak. He received a Master of Music degree from Brigham Young University. He has taught music and performed professionally for over 20 years. Berin has performed with Synthesis (BYU jazz band), the Anchorage Symphony (classical), La Combo Tropical (salsa), The After Six Orchestra (dance band) Preston Lloyd Orchestra (dance band), Moonlight Serenaders (dance band), Wave 'O Blues (funk and blues) and numerous small jazz and rock groups. Some of the artists he's worked with include Bobby Shew, Rebecca Mauleon, Peggy Stern, and Ben Vereen. He was the musical director of The After Six Orchestra for several years before moving back to Utah. Locations he has taught at include BYU, University of Alaska-Anchorage, and currently Utah Valley University. Berin teaches private saxophone and clarinet lessons and is the author of the young adult novel The Dragon War Relic.
Lacey Jackson: Vocals
A Performing Arts student in college, Lacey has honed her abundant talents as an actress, singer and dancer on many stage productions in the Utah and Salt Lake Valley
Heidi Potter: Vocals
An accomplished singer and dancer, Heidi has performed in many stage productions in the Utah Valley and entertained on cruise lines.
